2013 Association Choice

With 2013 on the horizon, and with the changes in 2012, what are going to be the differentiators that you will use to choose which association you will have your team playing with.

The bats, that were contentious over the years is now a non issue, as all associations in Canada will basically have the exact same bat rules.

How what will drive your decision:
  • Prizing
  • Cash
  • Balls that will be used
  • Other

Very interested in what will be driving which association people will choose and why.

Cheers

My preference is to play NSA because they have the best prizing, payouts and have proven to be the only association that can successfully run a tournement in Alberta.

What drives me to pick one tournament or association over another is the ability to draw good teams and a full tourney. I don't play for the money and I really don't need more hoodies, shirts or jackets. I want a good weekend playing against good teams which means I choose NSA.

SPO for me...will be almost 100% SPO this year with some SPN mixed in to support the new Hamilton crew!

3 pitch with the best cash payouts and no bat rules at all. Bush league where anything goes.

Good point.

I love the fact that there is no difference in bat rules anymore, which makes it a sort of even playing field.

But for me this is slo pitch where I still want to hit a good ball with a good bat. Then comes competition, then beer choices, then finally the prizing.

Damn, I want to be able to sit after a game, enjoy a good choice of beers and enjoy!

Whichever association that can offer me that, get's me out to the ball park! We don't have SPO in BC, but what is the ball that is used there?

We used a super gold dot last year. Rumor has it we are going to experience the hot dot in SPO Super Series for the first 2 events. I've heard great things about the Utrip hot dot and terrible things about the SPN hot dot. I'll save my judgement for the ball if and when we use it.

I will be playing SPO this year and I will be playing the NSA men's world series in Hamilton.
SPO - best high level competition week in and week out.
NSA - because I feel like as super star sitting on the bench of the show diamond.

I havent really played too much SPO but have no faults towards it.....Always enjoyed NSA tournies for the double knockout and more games guaranteed for you dollar.....Seems as tho SPN is on a downward spiral with alot of the slo-pitch community

We got to use the SPN Hot Dot in Provincials last year, and wow it was definitely an adjustment. Even the Grey dot - 375 Comp is a tonne better than the Hot Dot. Not sure how the SPO Hot Dot compares, but I cannot see it anywhere near the Gold Dot. Keep us informed about how that goes.
