I use them, have a PI2 upstairs and a PI3 downstairs. I know at least 2 guys from here that use them as well. I like them. Extremely easy to set up. I know u can do a lot with them. I can play video games on mine like NES, SNES and Sega games which is awesome.

I have 3 running in my house (Pi 3). Two running as media center systems, and one running as a smart speaker. The one media center I will switch to a retro gaming system from time to time. Software I am running on and off on the Pi.....

LibreElec
Rasplex
RetroPie
RuneAudio

Next project will be an openhab server for home automation.

What are you looking at running it for?

You probably get better bang for your buck with a preinstalled android box, but if you like to tinker and want to play with setups, I highly recommend a Pi3.

Give this a read if you have time. Be warned the android boxes are all pretty coming out of the same factory. Other than the nvidia shield. So the main differences youll find in them are ram size which should help with speed, actual storage capacity, and the android os version.
But here you go. Also i find the android boxes are hit and miss with the wifi capabilities so i recommend a wifi dongle if you arent hard wired to the net

I got a Minix Neo U1 for Christmas, i'm very happy with it. It's a little more expensive than the cheap boxes on Amazon, but i'm ok with that knowing it's a stable, reliable box with more RAM than most and a wireless qwerty keyboard remote.

This is where we got it:
https://northstarbox.ca/collections/...ducts/minix-ui

From that link above in GONZO's post:

Q. Most stable, working, mature, Android Lollipop 5.1.1 - AMLogic Firmware only - Kodi device sellers:

MINIX
WeTek

Q. I'm a Newbie and simply want to unbox and power up a device and Kodi is sitting there ready to go. Plug n Play.

These devices will either come packaged with special Hardware optimised versions of Kodi or you simply download various flavours of Kodi easily, from the individual Apps stores.
WeTek devices - Core / Hub / Play2 - come packaged with WeTek Media Player - WeTek's optimised version of Kodi Jarvis 16.1
MINIX U1 - comes packaged with XBMC for MINIX - again a version of Kodi Jarvis 16.1
Zidoo X9S- comes packaged with ZDMC - a version of Kodi Jarvis 16.1 for use with a custom external video player App.
HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro - a pre-installed Android wrapper App has to be run first to enable Kodi to then use an external video player App.
nVIDIA Shield - simply download Kodi Jarvis 16.1 from the Google Play Store. SPMC preferred and highly recommended.
Amazon FireTV's - download MrMC from the Amazon Apps Store - MrMC is a version of Kodi Jarvis 16.1
( it has some limitations however with Skins and Addons, but is well supported)
Apple TV4 - download MrMC from the Apps Store - MrMC (same limitations as above)
Intel Boxes running Windows 10 - download Kodi from the Microsoft Store
