‘iT’ guys....help

Wife’s at her wits end, I’ve tried some fixes from trusty google with no luck. Acer laptop when booted up displays “no bootable device”. Laptopnwas doing updates previously to this problem and ended up being shutdown during the process due to someone’s impatience...maybe me.....looking for any help anyone can give as there’s a lot of baby pictures on hard drive we’d prefer not to lose. Thanks in advance

Sounds like your boot record is corrupt. If you go into the BIOS does it actually show the drive? Also check to see if you are in UEFI boot mode.

Assuming its a traditional HDD or SSD, are you able to open the laptop casing and make sure the hard drive is seated/connected properly?

Or...

"No Bootable Device" Error Message
Why do I get the error "No Bootable Device" when I turn on my computer?

You may receive the error "No Bootable Device" if your computer does not detect a hard drive, solid state drive, or other bootable drive to load the operating system. This can sometimes be caused by a change to settings in your BIOS or UEFI. Use the following steps to resolve this situation:

Hold the power-button for 5 seconds to power off the device.
Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press the F2 key, or the DEL key if you have a desktop, to enter the BIOS.
Press F9 and then ENTER to load the default configuration. Press F10 to save your changes, and restart the system. Select Yes and press ENTER to confirm.
Your system should boot up normally, If you are still experiencing a problem, please contact Acer support for further assistance..

As felks said, check to see if your drive is seated properly. However, unless the laptop was dropped or something, the hard drive wont normally get unseated.

The only way I can think of to see if the issue is the hard drive, or something else (like the motherboard), is to connect the drive to another machine and see if it gets recognized. Or connect a different hard drive to your laptop.

With all this being said, if you are not comfortable handling these PC components, I don't recommend swapping things out like I suggested.

What are you running in as in the drive type, ATA, ACHI or Legacy?
