Softball Canada Allstar Team

whatHere is the release from the ASA website:

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) and Softball Canada announced today it is planning to organize its first ever mens slow pitch national team that will compete in the inaugural Border Battle mens slow pitch exhibition game featuring Team USA against a Canadian Mens Slow Pitch National team. Slated for July 18, 2009 during the tentatively scheduled 4th World Cup of Softball at ASAs Hall of Fame Complex, this special event will offer fans a rare occasion to see two of the primary disciplines of the sport represented at the highest level in front of thousands of fans and a national TV audience through ASAs television partner, ESPN.

The U.S./Canada Border Battle exhibition is currently in the developmental stages of planning but we feel it is a great way to gain national attention for upper level slow pitch softball and make sure sports fans across America get a chance to see the type of superior athletes currently playing this aspect of the sport, said Ron Radigonda, ASAs Executive Director. We are anxious to explore the sponsorship opportunities for this type of event and also promote the upper levels of ASA slow pitch softball. Millions of adults play slow pitch softball every year but rarely do they get a chance to see the game played at the upper level and witness the combination of defensive gems and extraordinary home runs hit by the top players in the game.

On behalf of Softball Canada, we are pleased to participate in this inaugural event being organized by ASA and feel it has a chance to bring a new level of excitement to the slow pitch softball community in Canada, said Kevin Quinn, Softball Canadas President. I know the players in Canada look forward to showing off their skills to our friends from the States and recognize this is a unique opportunity to participate in an international competition.

This special exhibition will also include slow pitch and fast pitch clinics featuring members of both the USA Softball Womens National Team and the Slow Pitch National Team, a home run exhibition, and practice games all held in conjunction with the planned 4th World Cup of Softball scheduled for July 16-20.

Further announcements surrounding player, coach and umpire selections along with playing rules, marketing agreements and other event details will be announced at a later date

What do you guys think. I would love to play or even watch this event.

just curious, what level/calibre would the US representative be?

Canada's A-ball is as good as USA's C/B division..
if Canada were to play against major players, we'd have literally no chance...
mind you, most of the US players play all year round..

Air Transat so far has had the best results of our teams that have played down south.. and they are ranked "C" down there...

but if we took our best 20 players across the country regardless of what team they are on we may have a shot at competing.

wow!!.. id say most of these guys on that list have bats named after themselves... LOL

but like guys on SPC would tell you (as they played against some of the major guys at the PIF).. you put up 10 runs, they put up 20 runs. you put up 20 runs, they put up 40 runs... almost a lost cause.. but i guess fun, in terms of experience..

Mark Regan, had a chance to play with Jeff Hall and Jeff Wallace as teamates, he was telling me the story of the bp session they had, he couldnt believe the immense bat speed these guys had, he never saw anything like it in these parts..
