all current bats are limited by the rules, not the technology. pick a bat that feels good to you. there's probably about 300 bats at the top that all hit within 5ft or .1mph, or whatever you want to base your comparison on, of each other.

pay attention to things like break in time, durability, sweet spot size and location, endload, and just generally the feel of the bat. those are the things that make the differences between top bats. and it's people's preferences to blame for the apparent differences in performance between them.

i've hit an AV and reaper fairly well in BP, but i don't really like the feel, and i hit horribly with them in games, most likely because i'm not comfortable with them.

Pick up five different bats with vastly different feels in swing - challenge yourself and alternate between them in BP and games. Mix in a few bad pitches to round out the challenge.

That is a very overlooked thing, yet makes all the difference in the world.

you bet. and it's the reason my thursday night rec team hits the creature better than my juggy, or another team mates AV(although a select few hit the AV amazingly well and can't hit the demarini's at all)

if i had the coin, i'd probably do what WBFB suggested with these bats:

demarini juggernaut/j2/FSE
Miken F98/NRG500/recoil
OG Easton flex/extended (or the 08 flex/extended)
Combat AV/afflicted
08 Rip It Reaper/rip it senior
worth JH/may98
mizuno frenzy
Easton SCN9/SCN5

if you can't find a bat from there that you like, good luck to you in finding one at all. i'm sure there's dozens of worthy options missing from that list as well, but until you get it narrowed down a bit to your preferences, it's pretty overwhelming

If you don't want to spend the cash on a Nemmy, it's a good alternative.

i have swung every one except for the SCN9 and may98. good bats, but not many felt good to me. like the reaper, it hits awesome, but i'm pretty sure my in game record with it is 0.000

i probably should have said if YOU have the coin. my list would be a little different, and feature demarini heavily:tongue:

I have swung most of the bats on the list fgt has compiled but the one I like the most is the RD28 27oz it is awesome although I wish I had an og flex in my bag 27oz would be awesome but other then that the RD all the way

my point wasn't that the 'best' bat is somewhere on that list. the point is that ALL the top ASA bats are about equal in performance, you have to actually try them to see what works for you.

i have put a couple hundred hits on the RD28, and there's no way in hell it's gonna replace my juggy. truth is, a slightly prefer the creature to the RD28. the overall distance is pretty close(the RD just a little farther), but the creature is infinitely easier to hit and i can't stand the tennis racket feel of the rd28's barrel. completely personal preference though, which is why you need to hit as many different bats as possible to start narrowing down your list

i've watched alot of guys swingin' a Frultra 98 and they seem to love it!! gotta be the best asa bat there is....

Ive swung almost all of these and I would def drop the 08 eastons and replace them with the new line. Also include the m7 and m7598 mayhems. Not a demarini fan nor a rip it so id drop them. F98 is the only miken other then the recoil id include. And that frenzy is sick too but watch the durability.

again the point isn't to find out what the 'best' bat is. there's a dozen bats on my list i wouldn't swing for free. the point is to find out what kind of feel you like. i tried to get as much of a variety as i could. i'm not too familiar with the eastons, all i know is that every one i've tried i hated and just couldn't find the sweet spot. so i'm not sure if there's a difference in feel with the new ones vs the 08/og's. but i was guessing that if you liked the feel of one, you'd like the feel of the new ones as well. i'm sure there's a dozen more bats worthy of the list, i just tried to name the ones most likely to be available to swing. once he finds out which ones he likes, and which ones he doesn't, then we can add the other bats worth trying with similar feel

Yeah I hear ya. With regards to the new easton line 100% different feel. Almost question whether they didn't just paint another bat as an easton it feels so drastically different.

cool, in that case add them to their own category, i've heard nothing but good things about them

Aren't half of the bat companies owned by one corporation anyways.

it doesn't really matter. they still have different specs, and they still have to pass the same performance standards, so it comes down to the same thing. all top bats will have about equal performance, with different feels
